I had the sweetest little facetime phone call the other night:
A: Gramma! I have two wiggley teeth, see!! (and she proceeded to wiggle her teeth.)
G: Oh my goodness! How exciting! (as I don’t notice them wiggling at all.)
A: And, look, this one is wiggley, too (as she wiggles another one.)
The Granddaughter’s face was just bright with joy and the happiness of sharing her good news with Gramma.
It helped that we had just seen her the day before. We got some very needed face to face time, with lots of hugs and kisses. We played games and shared some shrimp and had a nice little visit. So when she called the very next day with this news, we weren’t like strangers, or “just” facetime grandparents, but the real face to face ones.
She ended the facetime with lots of kisses on the phone and a joyous smile at her good news. Those moments, those treasures, are what make being a gramma worthwhile.
