The most exciting thing is happening today – I’m getting my teeth cleaned!
Last year, the first week of March, I had my appointment for a teeth cleaning. This was the beginning of the covid scare, so when the dentist’s office called, seeming as if they really wanted me to cancel, I obliged. I thought it would be over in a couple of months and life would get back to normal. Ha! I did manage to get one teeth cleaning last year.
I LOVE teeth cleaning day. I love the way my teeth feel so fresh and clean and shiny afterwards. Granted, the process is not completely comfortable, but I love having my own teeth and try to do what I can to keep them.
My grandma was the first person I knew to have dentures. We didn’t really know until we saw them soaking in a dish beside her bed. She never complained, but over the years I discovered some disadvantages for her. She loved blackberry pie (and made the best) but couldn’t eat it. It would hurt so much if one of the seeds got under her dentures. Other people I know had similar complaints, so I’ve tried to be proactive with my oral health.
We asked a dental hygienist, once, if we really had to floss. She said we only had to floss the teeth we wanted to keep; so we floss.
My treasure today is that I finally get my teeth cleaned after several months. My other grandmother told me, “Keep your own teeth as long as you are able.” I’m trying, Grandma!
