Yesterday was such a gorgeous day, I actually went outside to enjoy myself. Several weeks ago, I helped a lady who was cleaning out her sister’s house. Actually, what I did was hold open the hatch of the car she was trying to clean out because the hatch was broken. It was in the 20s, rainy and windy. Biting. We had stopped by to look at the car they were selling and she was busy trying to get it cleaned out. (It was horrid!) She wasn’t making much progress because the hatch door was broken, so I stood there for ten minutes or so holding up the hatch so she could just work unimpeded. We chatted about things and I told her I’d wished I could have helped her more since I love treasure hunting. Going through all the things her sister had left behind would have been so interesting!
After she had taken bunches of stuff to the Goodwill, she ended up bringing several boxes of “things” for me to treasure hunt through as a Thank You. (I told her I only held the hatch open for 10 minutes, not a biggie, but she insisted.) The weather was so atrocious that I put the boxes on our covered patio, covered them with a tarp, forgetting about them, until yesterday. For a couple of hours, I FINALLY had the chance to see what those boxes held. Mostly glassware. There were several sets, though, so I will probably try to sell them on Marketplace. I was able to pare down the boxes to things I wanted to look at, again, and stuff I knew would just go to Goodwill. Once I take some things to Goodwill, I’ll have more room to look at what’s left. It didn’t matter what was in there, though, because the joy of discovery was the treasure!

The picture is of our autumn crocus leaves appearing. They will grow huge, lush and green till mid-June, at which time they will slowly die till they look like lettuce that has died in the crisper pan. On September 1, the prettiest lavender blossoms appear.
