Since Hubbs and I moved “back home,” we’ve had lots of family dinners. Even when we lived in IL, we still came home every month, and our contribution was stopping at the IGA in Clinton for The Best Fried Chicken. Now that we’re back, I actually try to take home cooked side dishes.

I’ve managed to get a few food carriers to take the goodies to Mom’s and Dad’s, and yesterday I used all of them! The problem was that I didn’t own any bags big enough to carry them in. I had angel eggs that I didn’t want turned upside down, some brownies with icing I didn’t want turned upside down, and nothing big enough to carry them, with one hand, without them being upset.

So last night, after a nap, I got out the sewing supplies and made a REALLY big bag, one big enough to hold the food carriers right side up.

That all those years ago my 4-H leaders, my mother and my home ec teachers had the patience to teach me to sew, to give me the ability to do something about a need that may arise, I am thankful.

Knowing how to sew is truly a treasure.
