There are memes, weekly, floating through Facebook about some home in the country, mountains, woods, with the quote “You can have this if you give up fill-in-the-blank.” They say “give up football the rest of your life” or “give up the internet.”
I don’t know about you, but neither of those sacrifices would be a turn off for me. Sorry, I’d miss you all, but those of us who care could write snail mail, make phone calls or visit. The library would become my new best friend for information and reading. We could buy DVDs for entertainment, or play records… whatever.
Ask me to give up my computer?? No, I couldn’t do that. Even without the internet, I download pictures, scan documents, write letters, keep my recipes. Put me in the middle of woods with my computer and I’m a happy girl.
Give up the camera on my phone? Or any camera? No, I couldn’t do that. I have been a picture freak since I was a girl. I literally drooled over the pictures my mother took when I was young, and, then, got my first camera when I was 9 years old. I’ve never looked back! I love finding unique pictures, memorializing fun times. If I were in the middle of some woods, I would HAVE to have a camera!
And I could not live without people. Oh, there are daaaayys when I would love to move to the middle of nowhere with my Hubbs, and my kitties, and go back to snail mail. But I would still have to “go to town” once in a while.
